Kraken's Demise

Description

Below the thunders of the upper deep;
Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea,
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides: above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous grot and secret cell
Unnumber’d and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green.
There hath he lain for ages and will lie
Battening upon huge seaworms in his sleep,
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.

first of all, i have to say...this is one of my favourite waterscapes i've seen, and i'm pretty honored to even write about WHY i love it.

the composition is lovely. everything is placed just perfectly, and it's very eye appealing that the largest land mass in the background is where the water is receding. i also adore the slatey blue tone to this. the contrast is strong, but not overdone, and the ominous feeling and mood of the photograph draws you in.

i also love the fact that you took something that normally would be avoided, or seen as unpleasant, and made it interesting and the centerpiece of the image. fantastic work.
